Historic Mount Royal Terrace Association
15 April 2014
24 people were present.
The meeting began at 7:10pm.
CHAP Representative Election
The three candidates, Lauren Ross, Amy Trevelyan, and Randy Keck, each presented. Anthony Gill, the outgoing CHAP representative, spoke next, giving a brief description of his duties. He mentioned that monitoring unpermitted work should be a priority – especially on major holiday weekends, such as Memorial Day; he also said no neighborhood specific guidelines for renovations have been created.
Anthony suggested forming an Architectural Review Committee, as other neighborhoods with historic districts have. Neighbors were in favor of a committee comprised of all three candidates, lead by the CHAP rep.
Randy Keck was elected by the members present as the CHAP rep for the MRT District. Amy and Lauren both agreed to serve on HMRTA’s newly formed Architectural Review Committee.
After the election, a discussion began about making more information available to existing and new residents about the historic district, building permits, the Notice to Proceed process, and CHAP guidelines. One neighbor suggested we print out something and distribute it with the monthly fliers. Another neighbor suggested making the information available online.
A neighbor brought up the issue of the proposed street sweeping for our neighborhood, and asked if anyone was notified. Some members were concerned about how it would affect parking in the neighborhood. There was mention of residential parking permits, which one neighbor said did not have much support in years past.
Upcoming community events:
– North Ave tree planing 5/3
– Rain barrel workshop 5/31
– Mayor’s clean-up 4/26
– Yard sale on 5/4
A motion was made to hold the next meeting (Thursday, May 15), at the RHIC Office at 2001 Park Ave – it passed.
The meeting ended at 8:15pm.
